Greetings From Ted Higgins . . .President Peterborough Senior Lakers
|
WOW! What a great season! We finally overcame and won the Ontario finals, of which we were beaten out by Brampton the last two years, thus allowing us to host the 2010 Mann Cup and everyone knows how that finished. Now wasn’t that a party! Along with the thrill of winning the Mann Cup at home with our many loyal fans, there comes the satisfaction in knowing that as the host team for the Mann Cup, we have helped keep Ontario Major Series Lacrosse healthy and viable. How, you may ask? Profits from hosting the Mann Cup are divided amongst our league partners in the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Each team (Brampton, Six Nations, Ajax, Brooklin and Kitchener/Waterloo) each received $23,000. The host city receives two shares to offset their costs of hosting the tournament. Also, thank you for supporting the Lakers administered 50/50 draw. All proceeds are donated to Lakers Youth Lacrosse Camp. Last season’s donation was $54,000. This year’s schedule has been extended from 18 games to 20 games. We hope that all our loyal fans in this great community are looking forward to another exciting season, as are all the players, coaches and executive. As you read this program, filled with advertisements from our numerous sponsors, remember them and support them. The Peterborough Lakers are a very large extended family, consisting not only of players and coaches, but many team sponsors and volunteers - those we don’t see on the floor at every game, but whom we could not do without; and thousands of great fans. Enjoy the 2011 Lake Show! Here’s to another great year! Yours in lacrosse
