
Lakers improve to 2-0, prepare for home opener Thursday
PETERBOROUGH, ON – The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers improved to 2-0 on the young Major Series Lacrosse season with a 14-9 win over the Brooklin Lacrosse Club at Iroquois Park Sports Centre.
Turner Evans led the onslaught with three goals and three assists. Thomas Hoggarth put up a third period hat trick. The teams were tied at five after the first period, but Peterborough pulled away with four-goal runs in both the second and third periods.
Landon Kells made 27 saves in goal for the win.
Kyle Waters led Brooklin with four goals and a single assist. Riley Hutchcraft took the loss, making 20 saves.
The Lakers are excited to be right back in action on Thursday night with their home opener and Mann Cup banner raising set for 8 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre! Fans should be in their seats by 7:45 p.m. for the opening ceremonies. A tailgate party planned before the game has been cancelled due to the poor air quality forecasted. Fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Kawartha Food Share.
Tickets for the game are on sale at the PMC box office, which opens at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
